Our range of artisan, gourmet Italian pasta is manufactured by Pastificio Venturino, using classic home-made recipes from many decades of tradition. Penne is a cylindrical pasta shape that derives its name from the tip of a steel foundation pen. While few shapes of pasta can be traced back to their origin date, Penne pasta was born in 1856 when a pasta maker obtained a patent for a machine that cut pasta diagonally. This new invention cut pasta in the iconic Penne shape without crushing it. Due to its tubed shaped, Penne pairs especially well with hearty sauces, ragu or bolognese.
